ICECRD ACTIVITIES – The Cooperation Agreement (CA) between the Indonesian Center For Estate Crops Research and Development (ICECRD) and Tidar Magelang University (UNTIDAR) was signed on 29 September 2020. As a follow-up, UNTIDAR has sent four of its students to take part in Field Work Practices (PKL) at the ICECRD in the first semester of 2021.
It did not stop there, UNTIDAR again followed up this collaboration by holding a Socialization and Preparation for the Free Learning Apprenticeship: Independent Campus (MBKM), Monday, March 15, 2021, where the Ministry of Education and Culture program accommodates students’ rights to study for three semesters outside the study program. .
The event was held online through Zoom and was attended by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs UNTIDAR, Dr. Ir. Noor Farid, M.Si .; Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Ir. Usman Siswanto, M.Sc., Ph.D; Coordinator of the Substance of Cooperation and Research Result Utilization (KSPHP), Dr. Tedy Dirhamsyah, SP, MAB; Sub-Coordinator for the Substance of Cooperation, Dr. Saefudin, SP, M.Si; as well as UNTIDAR students.
Before entering the core of the event, Noor Farid gave his speech and appreciation to the ICECRD for collaborating with UNTIDAR. According to him, this collaboration is very important because it can increase the knowledge of students and lecturers about technology and the development of plantation commodities. Not only that, internships are expected to be able to increase student capacity both academically and technically.
Appreciation also came from the ICECRD for UNTIDAR who was actively following up this collaboration. This was conveyed by Tedy, representing the Head of the Plantation Research and Development Center, Ir. Syafaruddin, Ph.D, who was unable to attend. The ICECRD is very open and welcomes anyone who wants to work together to make MBKM a success. With the four existing Research Centers, students are expected to be able to actualize their knowledge by utilizing existing facilities and infrastructure with the guidance of reliable researchers.
“Internships and research can not only be done in Bogor (ICECRD and ISMCRI) and Sukabumi (IIBCRI), but also in other areas,” said Tedy. Students are welcome to have an internship at the Malang Sweetener and Fiber Crops Research Institute or the Manado Palm Plant Research Institute (IPCRI) if they are interested in the commodities there. Not only internships and research, the ICECRD is also open to collaborations in the field of technical guidance (TG) or collaborative research.
The event was continued with the material for the MBKM Apprenticeship Program Socialization which was delivered by Usman. He explained, the purpose of this internship is so that students get the broadest possible knowledge to develop hard skills and soft skills. They are also expected to be able to apply this knowledge to help solve problems in the internship partners.
The implementation of the internship itself will be based on the rector’s regulation. For the initial stage, UNTIDAR will try to test the guidelines that have been prepared so that students who can join this program will be strictly limited and selected.
Saefudin added that UNTIDAR’s preparations were good enough. Furthermore, further coordination is needed to determine how many students will be apprenticed at the ICECRD (Anjas)
