ICECRD ACTIVITIES – The Covid-19 virus pandemic that has hit Indonesia since the beginning of 2020 not only has an impact on health problems, but also has implications for the socio-economy of the community, including farmers. Many of them with reduced income even lost their income to meet their daily needs.
Labor-intensive Technical Guidance is one of the strategic steps of the Ministry of Agriculture to help the community, especially farmers who have been affected by the Covid-19 virus pandemic. You do this by employing them in various activities, including: mass pest control movements, labor intensive cultivation of land and accelerated planting, labor intensive plantations, and labor intensive land rehabilitation, irrigation networks and farming. Apart from that, there are also other activities such as: labor-intensive agricultural embung development, labor-intensive optimization of swamps, labor-intensive pipeline and pumping irrigation and anticipation of drought and floods. In the development sector, there are activities: labor intensive Farmer Field Schools, cultivating entrepreneurial spirit and absorption of agricultural labor as well as fostering agricultural MSMEs.
The Indonesian Center For Estate Crops Research and Development (ICECRD) as a working unit of the Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development, the Ministry of Agriculture together with the Indonesian Industrial & Bevarages Crops Research Institute (IIBCRI) as a technical implementation unit located on Jalan Raya Pakuwon Km. 2 Parungkuda, Sukabumi, 43357 West Java Indonesia, on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, coordinated in preparation for holding labor-intensive technical assistance which is planned to take place on March 9, 2021. On this occasion, Mr. Dr. Tedy Dirhamsyah, SP., M.Si, as the Coordinator of the Substance of Cooperation and Utilization of Agricultural Products at the Research and Development Center, said that labor-intensive guidance is an opportunity for IIBCRI to introduce innovations and agricultural technology produced to farmers. In the labor-intensive technical guidance activities later, farmers will be taught the theory of plant cultivation and will also be invited to go directly to the field, accompanied by experts, to practice tillage and plant nurseries.
On the same occasion, the Head of IIBCRI also expressed his hope that farmers who would be involved in labor-intensive Technical Guidance activities were enthusiastic, because in addition to provisioning related to plant cultivation innovations, at the event there would also be a symbolic distribution of free arabica coffee seeds to farmers by the Minister of Agriculture. .
