Head of the Indonesian Center For Estate Crops Research and Development (ICECRD) Ir. Syafaruddin, Ph.D., carried out a virtual consolidation with all Heads of Research Centers and researchers in the ICECRD (21/9/20). Consolidation related to the delivery of developments and field action plans for food estate activities in Central Kalimantan, especially the preparation of coconut seeds, coffee, and spices and medicinal plants.

Syafaruddin said that the land potential for intensification and extensification nationally is 119.6 million hectares, which includes dry land and wetlands (rice fields and swamps). In aggregate, 76.64% of the land is acidic land (with low pH) so it is classified as sub-optimal land (LSO). Of the total acid land, 107.3 million ha are acid dry land, 33.4 million ha are acid swamps and 5.7 million ha are wetlands / rice fields.

In his direction, Syafaruddin emphasized the importance of maximum efforts in the success of activities by strengthening consolidation related to the preparation of management activities referring to the time table that was designed from the start.

Syafaruddin appealed to all teams to make thorough preparations, especially in preparing seeds according to field needs and seed delivery schedules as well as the planting process to technological assistance, added Kapus.

Scheduling to the field must be carried out immediately by involving reliable structural officials, researchers and technical personnel so that the implementation in the field runs according to the target set.

In accordance with the direction of the Head of the Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development Dr. Fadjry Djufry, especially for plantation commodities that will be developed in food estate locations that have specific locations, especially coconut commodities which are short-lived and bear fruit quickly, as well as the Liberika coffee variety, it is very possible to be developed on site.

From the results of field observations by the ICECRD team, the community showed their enthusiasm for the realization of this program. For this reason, the Head of the ICECRD in this consolidation meeting reiterated to give the best for the implementation of the food estate program by maximizing various efforts for its success. (Sae / Web Team)
