ICECRD ACTIVITIES – The Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD) of the Ministry of Agriculture through the Indonesian Center For Estate Crops Research and Development (ICECRD) carried out Technical Assistance and Guidance (TG) for Plantation Crops Commodities in order to support Food Estate in Kapuas Regency, on Saturday (6/11). This is an effort by IAARD to realize food self-sufficiency to increase the income and welfare of farmers in Central Kalimantan.

The technical guidance was attended by 112 participants, consisting of: invited guests, extension workers, Gapoktan and 16 farmer groups from Terusan Mulya Village and Terusan Karya Village, Bataguh District, Kapuas Regency.

The Technical Guidance for Plantation Commodities (Empon-empon, Coconut and Coffee) was started with a speech from the Head of Terusan Mulya Village, Mr. Sujarwo. He conveyed that the agricultural conditions of Terusan Mulya and Terusan Karya Villages were built with great difficulty through the Government’s transmigration program from 1981, so that agriculture in these villages could progress.

The village head also hopes that government officials, especially the ICECRD, can provide assistance with certified seeds that are heat-resistant, resistant to immersion and provide training or technical guidance related to pest management, post-harvest processing directly or practically.

KSPHP Coordinator of the ICECRD, Dr. Tedy Dirhamsyah, SP, MAB representing the Head of ICECRD, apologized for the absence of the Head of Center due to attending other tasks. Tedy expressed his gratitude to the village heads who were present and appreciated the enthusiasm of the technical guidance participants who came earlier and wanted to have a dialogue to convey the problems they were facing.

After introducing the profile of the ICECRD and the Research Institute for its scope, the implementation of the Technical Guidance for Plantation Plants was continued with the presentation of Post-Harvest and Processing of Ginger, Turmeric and Temulawak by Researchers from Balittro, Raden Hera Nurhayati, SP, M.Sc., and Indah Kurniasari, SP. M.Si.

Furthermore, the material on Cultivation, Pest Disease Control and Post-Harvest Coconut was delivered by Researchers from Balit Palma, Dr. Novalisa Lumentut, SP, MS and Welmenci Juniati Sambiran, S.Si. M.Si. As well as material on Cultivation, Post-Harvest and Coffee Processing delivered by Researcher from Balittri, Ir. Edi Wardiana, M.Si and Eko Heri Purwanto, STP, M.Sc.

For information, several plantation commodities developed in Bataguh District, Kapuas Regency include Robusta coffee, early coconut, ginger and empon-empon. The technical guidance for plantation crops is aimed at implementing the Ministry of Agriculture’s IAARD program in order to support the Food Estate in Central Kalimantan, as well as disseminating technological innovations that have been produced by the Plantation Research and Development Center, especially cultivation, pest control and processing of coffee, coconut, ginger and empon-empon to increase income and welfare. farmers..
