ICECRD ACTIVITIES – The development and advancement of agricultural technology, especially the plantation sector, has become the focus of efforts to increase production and add value in efforts to advance the national economy. IAARD Ministry of Agriculture is required to continue to innovate through various research activities to produce modern technology and continue to disseminate so that the resulting technology is adopted by the wider community.
One of the efforts to accelerate the achievement of dissemination is through the expansion of cooperation with various parties with the principle of mutual benefit in supporting the duties and functions of each party. Cooperation is required to be able to spur institutional performance through various agreed activities.
In 2020 the Indonesian Center For Estate Crops Research and Development (ICECRD) has collaborated with 14 higher education institutions, local governments, private sector and research institutions. The Head of the ICECRD encourages the expansion of cooperation networks, especially with the private sector. On June 16, 2021, a cooperation agreement was signed between the ICECRD and PT Cipta Mulia Energi (CME) South Sumatra. The signing was done online by each leader, namely the Head of the Center, Ir. Syafaruddin, Ph.D and Director of PT CME Aldo Tanzil in Bogor and Palembang.
The cooperation is related to research, development, and use of bioenergy and plantation technology innovations which in its implementation will directly involve the Indonesian Industrial & Bevarages Crops Research Institute (IIBCRI) in the form of Terms of Reference (KAK) as a follow-up to the Cooperation Agreement (PKS).
The cooperation document contains the aims and objectives of the cooperation, namely: (1) The purpose of this cooperation is to carry out mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of research, development, and use of bioenergy and plantation innovations and technologies; (2) The objective of this Cooperation is to synergize the resource capabilities of the PARTIES to increase the added value of bioenergy, plantations, and agro-industry.
The scope of activities includes: (a) Research and development of bioenergy technology innovations, superior seeds, and technological innovations in the scope of plantation commodities; (b) Use/multiply/commercialization of the results of bioenergy technology innovations, superior seeds and technological innovation products in the scope of plantation commodities; (c) Technical assistance and guidance on the development and use of bioenergy technology, high-yielding varieties seeds, and technological innovations in the scope of plantation commodities; and (d) other activities agreed by both parties.
In his remarks, the Director of PT CME welcomed the signing of the cooperation and hoped to be able to synergize with the ICECRD in producing innovative technology for bioenergy development. Likewise, the Head of the ICECRD, hopes that the cooperation will be followed up immediately to achieve the goals and scope of the cooperation. “ICECRD with IIBCRI will continue to encourage and maximize existing resources in order to make the cooperative activity a success,” said the Head of ICECRD.
