Palembang City Government Explores Cooperation With ICECRD For Agricultural Storefront Development

ICECRD ACTIVITIES – Cooperation with various parties is very important to accelerate the dissemination of research innovations and technology. This was agreed by the Head of the Indonesian Center For Estate Crops Research and Development (ICECRD), Ir. Syafaruddin, Ph.D, when welcoming the visit of the Head of Research and Development Bappeda and the Head of the Palembang City Agriculture and Food Security Service, Thursday (24/06/2021).

“With the presence of the Head of Bappeda R & D and the Head of Distanpang Palembang today, we hope to be able to more quickly disseminate the innovations that have been produced by the ICECRD,” said Syafaruddin in the event held at the ICECRD Display Building. Furthermore, he also hopes for a concrete follow-up from this meeting.

Head of Bappeda R & D Palembang City, Ir. H. Harrey Hadi, MS, also hopes that his party can cooperate with the ICECRDr to make Palembang a center for upstream-downstream agricultural products in South Sumatra. The hope is that visitors who want to see products and learn agricultural technology can visit Palembang.

Head of Distanpang Palembang City, Ir. H. Sayuti, MM added, in Palembang there are around 16 ha of land that can be used as demonstration plots to apply the innovation and technology of the ICECRD, especially VUB coffee. He also invited the ICECRD to directly inspect the location in question in order to get a clearer picture.

Syafaruddin welcomed the invitation. He said the ICECRD is ready to disseminate the innovations and technology needed in this collaboration. If possible, this storefront can be developed into edutourism. He also suggested that medicinal plants be co-operated commodities other than coffee.

After this meeting, it is hoped that PKS and MoU can be made soon so that cooperation can run smoothly and have a legal umbrella. The event was closed with a visit to the ISMCRI Drug Education Park which is one of the research centers under the Plantation Research and Development Center. (Anjas)
