The resource persons’ presentation was then discussed by Postharvest researcher of IPCRI Patrik M.asang, STP, MT. The DC market is very wide / open, both domestically and abroad. Dry grated coconut home snack products are numerous. Data from 11 industrial supermarkets that use DC are Cocola, Nissin with the most variants, Aneka Indo Makmur, Arnold which produces Good Time, coconut flavor, combine with cereals, garuda food (Gery, Malkist coconut), Khong-Guan, Hatari, Cap Orang Tua , Mayora (Roma Biscuit Kelapa), Vercade, and Kalpa a mixture of chocolate and coconut. The discussant also mentioned that besides being used as a food product, for non-food products DC is used as a cosmetic ingredient because there is still oil content in it. Almost all Industrial, because DC handling is not easy for small scale. The price of coconut grain for DC is quite stable compared to copra. He also explained that the process in DC starts from wet coconut, half wet, and dry, then DC is cooled first before packaging. There are 3 DC sizes, namely Medium, fine, and extra fine, which are the most popular, medium and extra fine.
