PLANTATION NEWS – Agro Innovation Fair 2021 with the theme “Synergy of Local Food Agroindustry Transmits World Market”. This theme has a mission to invite all stakeholders to jointly develop the IAARD inventions of the Ministry of Agriculture into innovations that can be used for agricultural development through technology transfer collaboration.

The 2021 Agro Innovation Fair (AIF) was officially opened by the Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, attended by the Mayor of Bogor, Dr. Bima Arya and Head of IAARD Dr. Fadjry Djufry and his staff (7/11/21). The Agro Innovation Fair (AIF) agenda which was held at the Bogor Technology Transfer Management Center (BPATP) had several activities on the agenda including the submission of royalties to the inventors of the Ministry of Agriculture worth Rp. 4.6 billion. These royalties are obtained during 2021 from the findings of researchers and engineers of IAARD which have been licensed and utilized by the public. This is something to be proud of, because we have produced many technologies that have intellectual property values that have been adopted by the business world. And the inventors can already feel the compensation in the form of royalties, which in 2021 will reach Rp.4,

Head ofIAARD Dr. Fadjry Djufry added that in total, IAARD has registered 881 IPR technologies, and 580 of them have received certificates. “For 2021, 26 license agreements have been signed, and the total collaboration between IAARD and the business world has been recorded at 377 licenses.” said Dr. Fadjry Djufry.

Dr. Bima Arya conveyed that he was very proud of the Ministry of Agriculture who participated in advancing small and medium enterprises (SMEs), especially in the city of Bogor. One of the things presented in this AIF activity is “Telang health drink” which is one of the health drinks that is widely used today in several activity events, because it has medicinal properties for body stamina, said Dr. Bhima Arya.

The Telang health drink served at the AIF 2021 event is one of the health drinks served by the Research Institute for Spices and Medicinal Plants (BALITTRO), in addition to spice and medicinal products as well as health drinks such as secang and turmeric.

Telang flower is a vine, more commonly known to the public as a natural blue dye. The part of the plant that is most often used in traditional medicine is the flower which is claimed to have activity as an antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and analgesic, antiparasitic, antidiabetic, anti-cancer, antihistamine, immunomodulator, antidepressant, anticonvulsant and antistress. The active ingredients contained in it include tannins, flabatanin, carbohydrates, saponins, triterpenoids, phenolflavonoids, flavanol glycosides, proteins, alkaloids, anthraquinones, anticyanins, stigmasit 4-ene-3,6 dione, volatile oils and steroids. The fatty acid composition includes palmitic, stearic, oleic, lonoleic, and linolenic acids. Based on some literature and bioinformatics analysis, it turns out that telang flower also has potential as an antiviral,

The active ingredient in the flower part which has the potential as an antiviral is Quercetin 3-(2G-rhamnosylrutinoside) which inhibits the activity of 3CLpro (main proteinase) in viruses. 3CLpro plays an important role in the viability of the virus. However, of course, it should be noted that the potential of telang flower as an antiviral still needs to be proven by pre-clinical and clinical testing as well as other tests to prove it scientifically.

It is hoped that the 2021 Agro Innovation Fair (AIF) can accelerate the dissemination of the results of the IAARD invention to the public, especially the business world. Agriculture is currently able to promise life for the people and good income for future life as well as strengthen cooperation and build effective functional coordination. by involving all components of government and society in order to maintain national food security; Stimulate and motivate stakeholders to actively participate in the development of food security and the dissemination of effective and efficient technology to increase food production; Dissemination of information to the public about the importance of optimizing local resources for food self-sufficiency; Increase the understanding and concern of the community and stakeholders on the importance of providing sufficient and nutritious food; as well as a promotional and educational event in the context of food security and self-sufficiency.
