JAKARTA, ESTATE CROPS – Agriculture Minister of Agriculture Dr. Suswono open Agrinex Expo 2012 which took place from 30 March to 1 April 2012 at the Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta.
Agrinex Expo 2012 organized by the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) and Performax is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Coop Indonesia. Agrinex sixth expo this time the theme of “Sustainability for All”.Agrinex media expo is for organizers to show the achievements in the agribusiness sector of Indonesia, in addition, also as a medium of public education to know and love agribusiness Indonesia.
In his speech, Minister of Agriculture hopes that the promotion of agricultural products we can provide a real positive impact in the development of agricultural products and ultimately to increase income and welfare of agribusiness, especially the farmers / producers.
Implementation at the JCC Agrinex expo held in Hall A and Hall B to display for sale of horticultural products. Hall A in the cluster “Horti Earth” is filled by the horticulture business, National Horticulture Board and the Directorate General of Horticulture Ministry of Agriculture, while in Hall B in the cluster of “Sustainability” is filled by big business, PKBL, SOEs, 10 ministry-related and business food self-sufficiency and well-being of farmers.
Round Table Meeting
At noon, a series of activities Agrinex Expo held promptly at 13:00 pm Round Table Meeting (RTM) in the “Nuri Room”. RTM is an activity to promote the technological innovation / product AARD to the business.
RTM which was originally to be opened by the Head of the Agricultural Research and Development, represented by the Head of Research and Development Center Plantation Dr. M. Shakir, MS. RTM activities are guided by Prof. Kusumo featuring six inventors who will promote their products consisting of products of biological fertilizers and pesticides.

Minister of Agriculture with the topic of the paper “We Poor Farmers What the Road to Prosperity” report about the condition of farmers and kesmiskinan, fundamental issues, the strategic role of agriculture in national pembangunn, and addressing poverty program.
The basic problems of agriculture and the farmers are (a) ownership of land is narrow average <0.5 ha, (b) the lack of infrastructure, facilities, land, and water, (c) farmers’ limited access to capital and land, (d) managerial and entrepreneurial skills are limited, (e) increasing environmental degradation and global climate change, (f) weak institutional capacity of farmers and extension workers, and (g) the exchange rate of the farmers did not show significant progress.
These conditions require integrated handling of several related sectors. This becomes particularly important given the strategic role of agriculture in national development as (a) produced food, (b) sources of income of the population, (c) contributor to GDP, (d) employment, (e) a provider of industrial raw materials, (f ) source of income, and (g) the market for products and services of non-agricultural sector.
Therefore, the target of poverty reduction programs geared towards improving the welfare of farmers’ efforts to increase the income per capita. The average rate of increase in agricultural income per capita is 11.10% per year. To the welfare of the farmers are the priorities of agricultural policy are:
- As agricultural producers, farmers must be protected from imperfect market structures, therefore subsidies, protection and convenience should be given to farmers in the face of international trade negotiations.
- Farmers should be pursued as a net producer and has a considerable scale.
- Increased human resource farmers. Farmers must have managerial skills, entrepreneurial and technology to expand its business.
- Built industrialized agriculture is a subsystem in the agribusiness system, is needed to support off-farm sector.
- Land use and resources optimally. Critical land needs to be rehabilitated in order to preserve ecosystem function.
- Adequate agricultural infrastructure like irrigation facilities for agriculture, roads to transport the farm and production facilities, markets and market the results of the means of production, appropriate credit to agriculture and agribusiness
- Institutional reform farmers.
- Maktor economic conditions conducive to the cultivation of agriculture and agribusiness
- Agricultural development budget be increased in accordance with the number of people involved.
