ICECRD ACTIVITIES – The Mayor of Bitung Ir. Maurits Mantiri. MM and North Minahasa Regent Joune JE Ganda, SE visited the Indonesian Palm Crops Research Institute (IPCRI) directly by the Head of IPCRI Dr.Ir. Ismail Maskromo, MSi. The purpose of the visit of the Mayor of Bitung and the Regent of Minut is in order to accelerate the realization of the 2022 City and Regency development priority programs in the field of food security, it is necessary to collaborate with agencies such as IPCRI, IAARD, which are Central Agencies located in North Minahasa as centers of coconut innovation and palma.

The Mayor and Regent of Minut, accompanied by the Head of the Department of Agriculture and food security and staff, were invited by the Head of IPCRI to see a collection of superior dates and coconuts in the courtyard of the IPCRI office. They enjoyed the savory taste of kopyor coconut meat that was separated from its shell directly from its short (early) tree and identified the fragrant pandan coconut from the aroma of its leaves.

Then, with the Health protocol, enter the Agricultural Science Park (TSP) to see the Balai profile at the TSP Mini Theater. Then enjoy a meal on the TSP balcony while enjoying the fresh fragrant pandanus coconut. The Head of IPCRI together with the Mayor of Bitung and the Regent of Minut discussed the development of coconut, superior coconut seeds and downstream to be developed in their respective regions in the context of food security. Hopefully what the Mayor of Bitung and the newly elected Regent of Minut aspire to can advance their respective regions in terms of food security, especially coconut innovation from upstream to downstream which has benefits for the community and coconut farmers in improving the economy.
