Collaboration Of ICECRD With Bogor City Government For Manunggal Field Structuring And Scientific Tourism Areas

ICECRD ACTIVITIES- Head of Indonesian Center For Estate Crops Research and Development (ICECRD), Ir. Syafaruddin, Ph.D coordinated with the Mayor of Bogor Dr. Bima Arya Sugiarto, S.Hum., MA related to Manunggal Field Structuring as a center for sports facilities and green space for the Bogor community that will be integrated with the Scientific Tourism Area (KWI) of the Indonesian Spice & Medicinal Crops Research Institute (ISMCRI) at the Bogor Mayor’s Office (13) / 07/2020).

Syafaruddin briefly explained the profile of KWI, which is the Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development Ministry of Agriculture asset for germplasm plantations and herb and medicinal plant trials. The area of ​​KWI is around 15 hectares filled with various plants, some of which are even more than 100 years old.

Bima Arya welcomed the steps and efforts that have been taken on the application for a grant from the Mayor to the Ministry of Agriculture. He conveyed the purpose of using the land for public open space as a sports venue, which is a soccer field.

In the meeting, several important points were agreed, including creating a unified field green space integrated with Scientific Area (KWI) 1 and Scientific Tourism Area 2 or often called the Cimanggu Techno Agro Science Park.

Later this integrated green space will become a jogging track with quite natural nuances in Bogor. Visitors can start the track from the Manunggal field to the gate of the Cimanggu Farming Area and enter KWI 2 to the side of the ISMCRI exhibition area which will be used as a means of agricultural agro-education in the Bogor Area.

Before leaving, head of ICECRD gave a souvenir in the form of IAARD Innovation products originating from the Eucalyptus Plant as an effort to prevent the spread of the current virus outbreak.

Bima Arya appreciated the innovation. He revealed that this innovation should be supported because Eucalyptus IAARD research had been tested in the laboratory.

Hopefully the collaboration between the Bogor City Government and the ICECRD will make new science-based agro-tourism that is affordable and comfortable and will certainly be very beneficial for the people of Bogor. (Anjas / KSPHP Team)
