ICECRD ACTIVITIES – Head of the Indonesian Center For Estate Crops Research and Development (ICECRD) Ir. Syafaruddin, Ph.D . attended as the main speaker in the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) held by the Faculty of Agriculture, Jenderal Sudirman University (Unsoed) in the context of implementing the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) curriculum and providing opportunities for students to study outside campus. In addition, to accelerate and streamline the program, it is necessary to build sustainable and synergistic cooperation with various partners, both private (industry) and government (26/11/2020).
The purpose of the cooperation as stated in the cooperation agreement is to produce superior human resources, produce works of science and technology for plantations based on local wisdom, and empower rural communities and appropriate technology in the plantation sector, in order to support the progress of the plantation sector.
At the end of the FGD, Prof. Dr. Ir. Suwarto, MS. who is the 11th Chancellor since Jenderal Sudirman University was established on September 23, 1963 and comes from the Faculty of Agriculture Unsoed, gave his appreciation for the FGD implementation in an effort to spur the realization of the MBKM program. In particular, the Chancellor also expressed his congratulations and success on the collaboration between Faperta Unsoed and the Plantation Research and Development Center which was signed some time ago virtually.
The Chancellor emphasized that in an effort to realize the MBKM Unsoed program institutionally, it is necessary to expand cooperation with various parties, especially with the Agricultural Research and Development Agency, especially the Plantation Research and Development Center to optimize research collaboration and development of experimental gardens/field laboratories owned by Faperta Unsoed. He also hopes that this cooperation can be realized soon.
After the FGD closed, the Head of the Center for Plantation Research and Development together with the Chancellor, Dean and the ranks of the Faculty of Agriculture Unsoed conducted a review of the Experimental Gardens/Field Laboratories at Mount Tugel and Kedungrandu. In his statement in the field after observing and observing soil conditions, plant types, agroecosystems and soil contours in the experimental garden, the Head of the Plantation Research and Development Center suggested that Gunung Tugel Gardens should be used as Edu Agrotourism based on robusta coffee plants, while Kedungrandu experimental gardens were suitable for lemongrass. smell good.
The Chancellor of Unsoed welcomed the proposal from the Head of the Plantation Research and Development Center. Technically, the proposal will be brought to the leadership meeting at the University and Faculty of Agriculture, especially regarding the budget, garden layout, management and partnership models. The Chancellor hopes that, in the future, this experimental garden is very possible to be used as an agro-tourism edu garden, so that people can take advantage of the presence of the garden, not only as a means of education/research but also as a place of recreation.
At the end of the visit, the Head of the Plantation Research and Development Center fully supported the Unsoed Rector’s desire to utilize the two gardens to become an agro-tourism education facility by optimizing the MoU and the cooperation that had been carried out. (Anjas)
