ICECRD ACTIVITIES – The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Program (MBKM) is part of the policy of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia to provide opportunities for students to hone skills according to their talents and interests by going directly into the world of work as preparation for future careers. The program is expected to be well implemented in all universities in Indonesia.
Tuesday (29/06), Head of the Indonesian Center For Estate Crops Research and Development (ICECRD), Ir. Syafaruddin, Ph.D was present as a resource person in the online “Gebyar Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka” event organized by the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University.
In front of the participants consisting of the UNSRI Chancellor, Deans and Leaders of the UNSRI Faculty of Agriculture, Lecturers, Alumni and hundreds of students, Syafaruddin explained the opportunities for internships and research for UNSRI students at the ICECRD and the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT).
“Throughout 2019 to 2021 the ICECRD has accepted more than 200 students from 55 universities in Indonesia in the context of internships and research activities, of course these activities are supported by the facilities we currently have,” said Kapus.
Currently the ICECRD has several facilities/infrastructure in each of its UPTs to support student Field Work Practice (PKL) activities, such as accredited research laboratories, bioenergy field laboratories, processing/post-harvest plantations, experimental gardens and seeds. to dormitory for students who live outside the area.
“We are always open to all universities who want to place their students to carry out PKL/Research activities in our place. Please write directly to our office, and our researchers are always ready to provide guidance to younger students who are interns here,” explained Syafaruddin.
UNSRI Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Anif Saggaf, MSCE, IPU explained that the purpose of holding the Merdeka Learning Gebyar Merdeka Campus activity was to encourage and motivate students, especially the Faculty of Agriculture, UNSRI to be more innovative, tough and creative in building the nation.
“By getting exposure from the speakers today, it is hoped that students can get an overview, experience and opportunity to study outside the current study program in accordance with the objectives of the MBKM program,” said Anif.
Furthermore, Anif explained that the Head of ICECRD and the speakers who attended this event, namely Dr. Ir. Ahmad Irfan (Director of BJB 2014-2018) and Putu Sukarmen, SP, M.Sc (Director of PT. Buma Cima Nusantara), are alumni of the Faculty of Agriculture UNSRI who can inspire students.
“What we are proud of today is that these speakers are alumni of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, of course our hope is that this can inspire students to become successful people like him,” he concluded. (Anjas/web team)
