ISMCRI Holds Guidance For The Utilization Of Industrial-Scale Spice And Medicinal Plants At IP2TP Laing, Solok

ICECRD ACTIVITIES – The Indonesian Spice & Medicinal Crops Research Institute (ISMCRI) as one of the Technical Implementation Units (UPT) of the Indonesian Center For Estate Crops Research and Development, Agricultural Research and Development Agency, Ministry of Agriculture carries out technical guidance on the use of simple industrial scale spices and medicinal plants for the community around the Laing IP2TP office, Solok ( 12/4/21). The event was opened by the Head of ISMCRI who was represented by the Sub-Coordinator of Research Services, Dra. Nur Maslahah, MSi, accompanied by the Head of Sub-Administration for ISMCRI Mulyawan, SE., Head of IP2TP Laing Solok Unang Mansur, SP., And Head of Tanjung Harapan Zulkarnain, AP.

This Technical Guidance on the Utilization of Spice and Medicinal Plants was attended by 50 people around the Laing Solok IP2TP office who came from various professions including farm workers, day laborers, housewives, traders, etc.

In his presentation, Nur Maslahah said that one of the uses of spices and medicinal plants is serving herbal-based functional drinks, including turmeric, ginger, etc. Functional drinks are drinks that have a positive effect on health. Functional drinks contain nutritional or non-nutritional elements and if consumed, they can have a positive effect on the health of the body. Functional drinks can be easily formulated and can be used quickly by the body after consumption.

Furthermore, Nur Maslahah said that the benefits of medicinal plants are as 1) Immunomodulators found in meniran plants, ginger, gotu kola, red ginger etc .; 2) Aprodisiacs (stamina / strong medicine) are found in purwoceng, Javanese chilies, pegs, etc .; 3) Degenerative (serious disease) found in sambiloto, ginger noni, gotu kola, turmeric, white turmeric, asitaba etc. The advantages of medicinal plants include: 1) The material comes from nature, easy to obtain and easy to process; 2) The price is relatively cheap and even free; 3) Can increase endurance (immunomodulators); 4) Refresh, fitness and beauty; 5) Treatment and cure of diseases; 6) Can be consumed fresh or dry.

In this Technical Guidance, the practice of making instant health drinks and clove balm was also practiced. The community around IP2TP Laing Solok who was present was very active and enthusiastic about participating in today’s series of technical guidance activities, and continued to implement health protocols, maintain distance, and use masks.

It is hoped that this Bimtek activity can increase the knowledge of the community around the Laing Solok IP2TP office and motivate people to always be enthusiastic even in the state of the Covid 19 pandemic. (ANJAS)
