IPCRI Releases Two Varieties Of Coconut And One Variety Of Sago

SUPERIOR VARIETY OF PLANTATION – Towards the end of 2017, the Indonesian Palm Crops Research Institute (IPCRI) Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the local governments of Banggai Regency, Selayar Islands Regency and Indragiri Hilir Regency, released three national superior varieties. This was stated through the Plantation Plant Variety Release Session held by the Directorate General of Plantation (2/11/2017). The three superior varieties are Coconut Dalam Babasal, Coconut Dalam Selayar, and Sago Bestari.

The superior varieties of Coconut Dalam Babasal come from the district. Proud. This variety has the advantages of the number of fruits / bunches> 10, the average number of fruits / trees 128, high oil and protein content, thick flesh. The potential for copra production is around 3 tons / ha / year. Dry land development area with wet climate with rainfall <6 months with shallow groundwater. The number of PIT 1000 trees with potential seeds of 106 000 per year. Babasal (Banggai, Belantak and Saluan) is an abbreviation of the ethnic groups in Banggai Regency.

The superior varieties of Coconut Dalam Selayar come from the district. Selayar Islands has the advantage of large fruits with an average number of fruits / bunches> 9, an average number of fruits / trees / year 119. The potential for copra production is> 3 tons / year. The number of PIT 1300 trees with potential seeds of 122200 seeds / year. Has high oil and protein content. Dry land development area with wet climate with dry months <5 months consecutively with shallow groundwater.

The superior varieties of Sago Bestari come from the district. Indragiri Hilir is classified as a thornless sago with the advantage that each tree has an average of 495 kg of sago starch or 255 kg of dry weight. The percentage of carbohydrates is quite high at 84%. The development area has a wet and watery climate.
