In an effort to anticipate the spread of the Covid-19 Virus in the work environment, the Indonesian Center For Estate Crops Research and Development (ICECRD) carried out the 2nd Rapid Test for all ICECRD Employees, both ASN, Honorary and contractual at the ICECRD, using the type of Serology examination using the ECLIA method. . Bogor (22/10).

In collaboration with Siloam Bogor Hospital, the Rapid Test was carried out while still paying attention to health protocols. All employees take turns in an orderly manner taking blood samples which are then validated for complete data so that they are not confused with one another.

Head of the ICECRD, Ir. Syafaruddin, Ph.D revealed that this activity is also important to know the health condition of all employees so that they can be properly monitored and can work optimally.

“We do this Rapid Test, of course, the main thing is to cut the chain of spread of the Covid-19 virus according to the direction of the government. Apart from that this is also important to ensure the health condition of each of the ICECRD Center employees so that they can work more optimally both at the office and from home. “, Said Syafaruddin.

Furthermore, Syafaruddin said that the results of this Rapid Test do not necessarily indicate that the employee is positive for Covid-19, so if a reactive Rapid result is found, a SWAB TEST will be carried out immediately to the person concerned.

He also said that various anticipatory steps have also been taken to break the chain of the spread of COVID-19, such as the first rapid test activity which was previously carried out in early June, spraying disinfectants regularly 2 times a week, providing disinfectants and washing hands at the entrance to the office. , measuring body temperature before entering the office, regulating distance keeping, and implementing the work from home mechanism (WFH).

For information, the Rapid Test is an initial screening method for detecting antibodies in a person’s body, namely IgM and IgG produced by the body to fight the Corona virus. These antibodies will be formed by the body naturally when there is exposure to the virus. The Rapid Test is an initial detection of exposure to the virus, but cannot be used as a basis for a diagnosis of whether a person is exposed to Covid-19 or not. For a more accurate examination, further examination is needed using the SWAB method and the PCR test.

The ICECRD determines Serological examinations using the ECLIA Anti-SARS-CoV-2 (Electrochemiluminescence Immuno Assay) method, which is an examination of antibody levels against Covid-19 using an automatic tool (autoanalyzer). The ECLIA method is a semi-quantitative examination to identify individuals with an adaptive immune response to SARS-CoV-2 arising from viral infection, including individuals who are asymptomatic or have recovered. It is important to understand that serology does not detect the virus itself, but it does detect antibodies made by the immune system.

Reporting the information shared by the Indonesian Ministry of Health, what must be done if the initial reactive screening results is to self-isolate at home if there are no symptoms. But if symptoms appear including fever, cough, itchy throat and severe shortness of breath, you should immediately contact a health care facility for further examination.

“We all hope that all employees and communities around the ICECRD can maintain their health, and urge them to always pay attention to health protocols as recommended by the Government,” concluded the Head of ICECRD. (Anjas / Team)
