Control of Erosion and Lincat Disease of Temanggung Tobacco

Temanggung tobacco are planted in land of 15-60% slope, clay soil, dusty clay or sandy clay soil. Those located in areas with B climate, 2200-3100 mm rainfall/year with distribution 8-9 wet months and 2-3 dry months. The technology components to control the erosion and lincat disease are Setaria grass, Flemingia, rural system, superior varieties (Kemloko 2 and Kemloko 3), the microbia Aspergillums cereus and Bacillus cereus. Setaria is planted at the edge of terrace and rorak is made in the base of terrace line. Before planting Kemloko 2 and Kemloko 3, the hole is sprayed by Aspergillus cereus and Bacillus cereus. These technologies could decrease 66% erosion, 44% plant death, increase 31% yield and 8% quality, and got positive response from cooperative farmers.

 

Quality Increase of Besuki Tobacco

Technological package to increase quality of deckblad tobacco and omblad Besuki tobacco was applicated in South of Jember (Paddy field) with height of 90-300 a.s.l. The types of soil are Regosol/Entisol, and Latosol, with texture of clay, dusty clay, dusty sandy clay. The climate type C with the average rainfall of 2366 mm/year. The technological package is combination between 150 kg N/ha and 0,66 l/plant irrigated. Harvesting is early done at the age of 47 days after planting.

This application could produce krosok tobacco as much as 1943 kg/ha and the quality of deckled and omblad 91%, whereas conventional farmers could only produce 30-35% deckblad and omblad quality.
